The Indian Administrative Services (IAS) is the governing body of all All India Services. The exam has a year-long three stages: Preliminary in June, Mains in September – October and Interview in March – April. Finally, the results are out by May end. The preliminary exam has two papers which are both objective and multiple choice. The first paper will be general subjects like History, Geography and Current Affairs out of 200 marks. Whereas the second paper is Aptitude, which includes Comprehension, Problem – Solving Skills and Analytical Ability out of 200. After qualifying Preliminary, the mains exam has nine papers graded out of 1750. The subjects covered in Mains are – Indian Heritage, Language, Technology, Security, Disaster Management, and Ethics.
